FAQs

10U

What sort of equipment does my daughter need?  She will need her own glove, protective fielders mask and softball helmet.  The team will have a couple sizes of bats to choose from, but if preferred, she can bring her own bat.  It is recommended to have cleats.  Black softball pants with red socks and a red belt are required and can be purchased on your own.  Jerseys will be provided.  You will find that most players have an equipment bag to keep their stuff in, but this is not required.  It is also a good idea to have a decent water bottle as water will not be provided by the coaches.

What is the time commitment for this level? Generally we limit practices and games to Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the season.  There might be occasional practices scheduled by the coach other days during the week, but this is infrequent, and generally done due to rainy weather.  We try to start in April as weather permits, and the season goes through the end of July.  There is one league tournament for all the players, and an optional opportunity to participate in an additional tournament for the 2nd year players.

Are there a lot of tournaments at this level?  There is one league tournament at the end of the season.  We also try to offer an additional opportunity for all the 2nd year 10U players to enter another more competitive tournament as a tournament team.  This is a good opportunity to play under normal fastpitch rules which they will be playing under as 12U players the next season

Does my daughter need to have a lot of experience to play at this level?  Not at all.  This is considered a recreational, developmental league.  There will be a wide range of skill level at this age.

Are there tryouts?  Not at this level.  All the 10U teams will practice together initially, during which time coaches will evaluate skill levels and then split the players into teams as equally as possible based on skill level and desire to pitch and/or catch.
